Colleges and Universities in New Zealand

There are eight Universities in New Zealand offering academic programs except Vocational courses. All eight universities in New Zealand offer wide range of courses for Bachelor,Masters and Phd. Some Universities offer degree in special fields e.g. science,humanities and commerce. Where as some universities offer degrees in specialist fields such as medicine,engineering,agriculture etc.Most of the universities have multiple campus,often based in different cities.


There are 18 ITP's(Institute of Technology and Polytechnics).ITP's are known for providing professional and vocational education ranging from introductory studies through to full degree programmes. ITP's also provides English language training and Postgraduate study options.Courses offered at ITP's are more career oriented focusing on practical and work experience.A degree from ITP has the same status with a university degree.

Private Training Institutes and English Language schools.

Students also have an option to study in 600 registered Private Training Establishments. PTE courses are generally specific to English language learning or niche occupations such as travel and tourism,design and ICT. Most Private Training Establishment provide certificate and diploma programs,but some PTE's also provides Bachelor and Masters degree. They also normally have flexible start dates throughout the year. Students have option to enrol in English  for Academic study course prior to start formal academic studies. Special English language courses are available throughout the year,and the duration varies from 4 weeks to 12 months.
